Could you survive a Food Emergency?
Emergencies can take many forms, from storms to power outages. Keeping
food on hand for emergencies protects you in the same way as insurance
on your home or auto - for the unexpected. With Mountain House®
freeze dried foods in your food reserve, you can be ready for just

Simple Food Preparation
Our freeze-dried foods are easy to prepare-just add hot water...wait
10 minutes...and eat! If a heat source is not available, room temperature
or cold water can be used, too. Because no cooking is needed, these
foods require much less water and fuel than most fresh, frozen or
dehydrated foods (further conserving these two precious commodities.)
30 Year Shelf-Life
Mountain House freeze-dried foods are packed in airtight NITROGEN
PACKED #10 cans or pouches. Up to 98% of the residual oxygen has been
removed. Our unique canning process uses both vacuum oxygen removal
and nitrogen flushing. This is a time consuming and slightly more
costly process...but well worth it. It is the same process mandated
by the U.S. Military for whom we also can. Our foods will have the
longest shelf life available...up to 30 years! We've been around for
35 years so we know first hand. Each of our cans is coated with a
protective enamel inside and out for double protection, including
the lid. The cans contents are protected until you are ready to open
and use them. After opening, we recommend using the contents with
2 to 3 weeks for best results and taste; using the convenient resealable
plastic lid between uses. Treat any leftover food as you would fresh
food.

food processing methods. Frozen foods maintain fresh flavor, but they
must be kept frozen. Dehydrated and canned foods are shelf-stable,
but their high-temperature processing reduces their flavor, texture,
color, and nutrients. Freeze-drying combines the best of these processing
methods--it locks in the freshness, color, texture, and aroma of frozen
food while providing the shelf-stable convenience of canned or dehydrated
food. Freeze-dried foods are the ultimate long term storage solution.
Our Quality Control
Oregon Freeze Dry, Inc. has a firm policy to produce only high quality
food products in the cleanest, most modern food processing plant.
Our facilities are USDA and FDA approved and are continuously inspected.
We use the highest quality meat, poultry, eggs, fruits and vegetables
- NO SUBSTITUTES. Every batch of food we produce is tested, and retested
several times by random statistical sampling to insure a premium quality
product every time. We don't stop there though. We continued quality
control (QC) testing and sampling until the foods are packed for shipment.
Even then we're not finished. We pull off random cases from each run
for further QC inspection. Afterwards, our QC Department holds each
completed canning run until the testing is completed. Only then are
our foods ready to leave our facilities.
